Guest speakers from different parts of the community will be invited to give a talk every month to expose students to the many current events in the community and around the world, and expose students to global perspectives. The FaYYang Festival is hosted twice a year. This is public and open to the community. Students work together with their home room class to each produce a festival activity. This can be a food stall, a play, or a concert. It is up to the students, and they have wide flexibility. While this gives the experience and simulates a business model like the real world, it also gives the chance for students to have a pride in their talent and school. This promotes leadership, collaborative team work, and creativity, as well as a strong work ethic among students. Students are in charge of their own budget and will implement productions themselves. Teachers will supervise students as needed. There are prizes awarded for the most popular, the most successful, and the most creative. This is also designed to be a multi-cultural experience. |
